THIRD AVENUE STAIRS
Third Avenue Stairs are middle child of the Bridgeland stair family. Not as pretty as First Ave Second Street. Not quite as strong and independent as First Ave. But at least it's doing better than the twins on Second.
The circuit is a series of (mostly) concrete stairs stretching across three blocks in Bridgeland (1st Ave to 3rd Ave). If you're training for a run with plenty of hills and varied footing these are the stairs for you. Their condition ranges from medium to poor so watch your step!
Stair Count: 68 Stairs
Number of Landings: 5 Landings
Estimated Elevation Change: 34' / 10.3m
Construction Materials: Concrete
Stair Height: 6"
Current Condition: Unmaintained
The central location of these stairs should provide easy access, but a series of one ways can complicate things if you are not familiar with the area.
Centre Street exiting onto Second Ave is straightforward if you aren't taking Memorial.
If you are taking Memorial Drive your best route is exiting onto Edmonton Trail North, turning left onto 8th Ave NE, then left again onto Second Street.
Street parking is plentiful. There are plenty of hills though so remember to use your parking brake!
